have you ever done any alchemy sketches on a more neutral background? (like gray or brown) I've looked over your gallery again but I didn't spot any immediately, I'd love to see you pop out some highlights on these sweet robotic beauties.
keep up the good work, you're keeping me inspired on these lazy days
its not that simple to describe with gray or brown the overall alcehmy sketch would be too dark. see i use 50% opacity black to paint the mech . i lay down several layers of hat black to gain my shadow parts but the lightest value would still be that 50% black. if it happens on a darker background the whole picture would get darker. i dont know if you can comprehend this but if i would want to use a low opacity white to fight that, each stroke would be able to reach into the dark areas accidently and destroy ma shadows the speedshapes im working with are really risky why is the background color even so important for you? if its white i can take the sketch and put it into a painting very easily. thats an advantage as well
im glad you dig them! you could give it a try yourself they are so much fun to make cheers!
ah I fully understand what you mean right now the speed shapes are indeed very risky and I can see why you would want those shadow parts untouched it's not necessarily important to me, but I was wondering how it would look contrast-wise
and taking the sketch out is indeed thinking ahead.
oh... some of these might come in handy when I get stuck on when designing my own mecha. *saves*
I like the first one of the fourth row the most. and the second on the third...well second. these are pretty cool and really I don't have any problem with seeing masses of these coming in, but maybe you should snag one or two of these and take it to the next stage of design.
