a commission i did for

a plasmaswoooooord D:
was really fun to do! its the first time i used both 3d and 2d.
I modeled the hilt in maya first, rendered it out using some blinns and mental ray and added textures and everything else in photoshop

Interesting that I would find this 1 month after learning that a plasma sword is far more likely then a lightsaber. The reasons being that unlike a "lightsaber" a plasma sword can be brought to an end leading to a blade-type weapon, were as a lightsaber's light is 10x harder to stop.
